Some camping trips are easier to do than others. Some require special equipment, some require almost no equipment. Some camping trips require a Tour Permit. Look in this area for all that good information.

Our council Boy Scout camp near Starkville. Campsites with running water, latrines, dining hall, COPE course facilities, obstacle course, etc. Opened in 1986.

Camp Henry Pratt has been a regular camping destination for council scouts since at least the 1930's. Located on Highway 45 north of Brooksville. This is now a YMCA camp, but is still available for scout camping.

OUT OF COUNCIL CAMPING LOCATIONS, UNDER 250 MILES  
No new posts Sipsey River Wilderness Area (Double Springs, AL)
In the pristine Sipsey wilderness, southeast of Birmingham, in the Bankhead National Forest. The Eye Of The Needle is a rock formation about two hours' hike into the Sipsey. Good backpacking destination, no facilties or developments.
