On the UNIT CALENDAR page, select your unit's
calendar. At the bottom, under CURRENT USER, click on (login).
Enter the ID and password exactly as they were given to you.

I
can't seem to log in.
The log-in information is case
sensitive. In other words, your upper and lower case letters must be
exactly right. For unit calendars, all log-in information is lower case, except
the first letter of the log-in ID, which is upper case. Make sure there
are no spaces in the ID or the password. If you are still having trouble,
contact webmaster@pushmataha.org.

Okay,
I'm in. Now what?
It's a good idea to start filling in your
calendar with "known events", such as campouts, meetings, Roundtables,
popcorn deadlines, Blue and Gold banquet dates, Camporees, etc. These are
upcoming events that already have dates established, and may effect the dates
your boys choose for their troop events.
Also, fill in dates on the school calendar
that may effect your calendar planning. Nine week tests may not be a good time
to plan a troop meeting, so you'd list those for sure. Christmas breaks,
spring vacations, ACT test days, and other school events can impact your unit
schedule.
If a majority of your boys are in the
school band, adding band trips to the calendar night help. If eight of
your scouts are going on the next Philmont trip, adding the shakedown hikes and
Philmont trip dates may be a big help in planning your schedule.
In other words, fill in events from the
council, school, church, and the community that you would normally plan
around. This will go a long way toward avoiding some of the scheduling
conflicts that seem to plague so many units.

How do
I add an event?
In the upper right corner of each day's block,
there is a small + sign in a circle. Click that to add an
event.
How
do I make a troop meeting show every Tuesday night?
While entering the new event, click the REPEAT
tab at the top of the data box. Under Repeat Type, choose weekly.
Then, put a check beside Tuesday by clicking the box next to Tuesday. The troop
meeting will now repeat each and every Tuesday from now until eternity.
Under the DATE field, change Untimed
Event to be Timed Event, and set a starting and ending time. Be
sure to change the AM default to PM when necessary.
How
do I add an event on the first Thursday of each month?
Let's say you want to make Roundtable a repeating
event on your calendar. It's the first Thursday of each month. Enter
Roundtable as an event on the first Thursday of this month, make it a Timed
Event (7:00 PM until 8:30 PM). Under the REPEAT tab, choose Monthly
(by day), and then in the Frequency box, enter a "1".
This means repeat on the first day of the month that matches the day you chose
on the DETAILS page.
If you wanted an event to be the third Monday of
every month, you'd set up the event on a third Monday, and then under REPEAT you'd
choose Monthly (by day) and then make the Frequency equal to
"3".
What
about events that go on all day?
Under DETAILS set them to be an Untimed
Event. This places the event on the calendar with no specific starting
time. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and ACT Tests would be good examples of an
Untimed Event.
How
do I change an event once it's on the calendar?
Easy. After logging in, just click the actual
event on the calendar, choose Edit Entry on the left side, and make your
changes. Be sure to click Save before leaving the edit screen.
How
do I change just one repeating event and leave the others alone?
Again, just click the actual event you wish to
change, on the date you actually wish to change it. Choose Edit
Entry For This Date, and make your changes as above.
Let's say Christmas is on your usual meeting night
this year. Go to Dec. 25, click that troop meeting, and then choose Delete
Entry Only For This Date.
Will
my entries show up on other calendars?
No, just on your unit's calendar. Making
entries and changes on your unit's calendar has no effect anywhere else.
How
do I print out a monthly calendar like the council uses?
At the bottom of your calendar's monthly view,
click [Printer Friendly]. You'll get a new, better view for
printing.
If you are using Internet Explorer or Mozilla
Firefox, go to the top left hand corner of your browser, click file, then
page setup, and then change portrait to landscape, then OK.
Click Print, and you're on your way.
With other browsers, you'll have to find the page setup
on your own.

How
do I link to our unit calendar from our unit's website?
When you first view your unit's calendar
online, look in the address bar of your browser. That is the address you
use for the calendar hyperlink. Using cut and paste to get the link is a
good idea. You can also right click on the calendar, look at "Page
Info", and the page address will be found under "URL". The
hyperlink is always in this format:
http://www.pushmataha.org/WebCalendar/month.php?user=Troop45
where the name "Troop45" is replaced with the ID of your
unit. Note there are no spaces in the ID of the unit.

What
is this calendar program called?
The actual name of the software is WebCalendar,
written by Craig Knudsen. You can always visit Craig's home
page, and the software does have two support
forums. This is free software. If you're really, really thrilled
to have use of it, I'm sure Craig would be glad to accept a donation for his
effort.

Can
I see the Council calendar and my unit calendar at the same time?
Yes, you can. The steps are simple.
Log in as your calendar's administrator, and in the menu at the bottom of the
page, choose Admin.
Choose Layers.
Choose (Enable Layers).
Choose Add Layer.
As Source, choose PUSHMATAHA AREA COUNCIL.
Click the Select box to pick a color other than green. Click Save.
At the bottom of the page, choose Go To: My Calendar.
You're now seeing your unit calendar in green, and
the council calendar in whatever other color you chose.
Very important: This layered view is seen only by you, the administrator.
You can print it out for planning purposes, but you have only altered the
administrator's view of the calendar, not the public view.
To make the layers go away, just go back to Admin,
and choose (Disable Layers).
You can also layer your calendar with other units,
or wit the council and multiple units, as a planning aid. Make each layer
a different color, and when you print out the screen in color, available dates
should be easily seen.

Can
I just copy entries from the Council calendar to my unit's calendar?
Yes, you can. Follow the
instructions in the entry just above to see your calendar and the council calendar
in layers. Find a council entry you'd like to copy to your calendar, and click
the name of that entry. When that entry's page comes up, choose Add To
My Calendar. This will let you pick and choose which entries you
move from the council calendar.

I
have a question I didn't find answered here.
Email Webmaster@Pushmataha.Org,
and you'll get an answer sometime in the next 24 hours. You can also find
lots of ideas on how to use this program by reading the support
forums.
This is really a very easy program to use, and I
encourage you to experiment with it, play with the entry options, etc.
