The first meeting of the newly formed Camp Seminole Administrative Committee met Tuesday night, Nov. 17, 2009, in the Dining Hall at Camp Seminole.Scouter Scott Comish (pictured left) was elected to be chairman of the Administrative Committee. Scott introduced himself to the committee. He is Project Manager for a local architectural firm, and is active with Troop 14 in Starkville. Perry Sellars was elected as Vice Chair of the committee, and Dan Wrather was elected as secretary. The 22 Scouters on the committee discussed the current Ranger position at camp. Eric Swartz agreed to stay on as temporary Ranger on a volunteer basis, while the committee establishes Ranger job description and compensation. As a first step toward developing a long range plan for the camp, the committee members will develop lists of needed and desired improvements to the camp, and during their next meeting, use those lists to develop an initial for the camp's future development. The committee will also look at annual camp expenses, to get and understanding of what revenue the camp needs in order to be self-sufficient. Perry Sellars volunteered to finish the work needed to make the Arapaho shelter water-proof, so that rain and moisture will not damage the work that has been done already to change it from a shelter into a lodge. The next meeting of the committee will be Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7:00 PM. |
