Emergency Preparedness Shelter Training
The American Red Cross and the Boy Scouts of America both stress preparedness.  A structured program of preparedness and awareness has been developed in the American Red Cross to prepare for and respond to emergencies.  By utilizing the information from these courses in a scout training program, scouts can be better prepared for disaster and can assist the Red Cross during times of disaster.  Scouts will also be able to advance in their Emergency Preparedness merit badge.  Scouts will benefit from their knowledge of how to prepare for emergency and also from their knowledge of the American Red Cross disaster response procedures.

Our goal is when Camp Seminole is used for a Shelter that trained scout will be the main volunteers in the shelter operation.

Dan Jackson is our Co-Chairman of Disaster at the Oktibbeha County Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Together we have a training set aside to bring to Scouts and Scout Masters.

It will be Thursday November 19, 2009 from 6-9 PM

Also a reminder:  This Saturday November 14 from 9AM to 4PM  is a quarterly CPR and First Aid training at camp Seminole.  Need to bring  a sack lunch.
