Sam Baker Is Four Star Recipient
During a Court of Honor held on November 1, 2009, Eagle Scout Sam Baker of Troop 55, Amory, received two religious awards. The first was the God and Life Award and the second, the Four Star Recipient Award. Shown with Sam (center) are (left) Meadowood Baptist Church Minister of Youth Casey Deaton and (right) Baptists for Scouting Member Van East, Jr. Deaton served as counselor to Sam for the God and Life Award, a three month course of Bible study and service work. East presented Sam with the Four Star Recipient Award in recognition of Sam earning all four levels of Scouting's God and Country series. Sam, who started work toward this award in 2003, is the first boy ever to earn this award in the ten county Pushmataha Area Council. East noted that for the year 2008, only 156 boys received this award nationwide.
