LOCAL SCOUTS PRESENT REPORT TO GOVERNOR  

On February 11, 2005,  as a part of the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America,  local scouts John Guyton and Hugh Windham made a trip to the state capital to present a report to Governor Haley Barbour. The report showed the health of Boy Scouting in the state of Mississippi .

 

The report revealed that there are 41,808 registered members and 8,174 adult leaders in the organization in Mississippi . The report also showed that the scouts performed 43,638 hours of community service during 2004.

 

John is an Eagle Scout and Hugh is a Life Scout. They are both active in Starkville’s Troop 14. The scouts were accompanied on the trip by Troop 14 Scoutmaster Gary Windham and Pushmataha Area Council vice-president Mark Guyton.
