Scouts began arriving in the
K-Mart parking lot in Columbus as early as 5:00 AM July 24. Yes, it
was completely dark as scouts purchased extra patches for trading, made
deposits with the Quartermaster, and looked for a seat on the bus.
Numerous council volunteers and adult Jamboree volunteers manned the
registration tables as scouts prepared for the adventure of a
lifetime. The council sent 29 Scouts on this trip, although there
was room for 36. The boys liked having the extra room on the bus,
and the seats looked like they would be comfortable for sleeping on the
way up. |

Group photo taken
just before departure at 6:44 AM. Each scout was in full class A,
complete with the official Jamboree cap. Organizing the group for the
photo was a bit like herding cats, as many of these boys had been up since
before 4:00 AM for the trip to Columbus.

TROOP 1520 RETURNS FROM
2005 NATIONAL JAMBOREE
Scouts and scouters from our council contingent arrived in the K-Mart
parking lot promptly at 6:00 PM, just as planned. The tired but happy
group, having spent two weeks together, still found it hard to part
company after arriving. |

The scouts took a group photo behind two 6'
banners (contributed anonymously), and then each scout signed each banner
to present as a gift to SM Joe and ASM Larry. |
