Amory, Mississippi Horse Park April 27-29, 2007 |

Scouts from all over the council got to participate in learning calligraphy, lye soap making, and hide tanning as part of the Old West Camporee in Amory. The Horse Park was a great venue, with pavilions providing much needed shade. |
||
|
The fine art of playing the dulcimer was introduced to many this weekend. Any Scout who wished could try his hand at driving a railroad spike using the time proven method of brute labor an a spike hammer. Even Scoutmaster Joe took a swing at driving a spike. The C&G Railroad display was a popular stop! |

The quilting exhibit drew a lot of interest, as did the horseshoe throwing competition. One of the most popular, though, was the lady who baked fresh bread, served with with fresh churned butter and home-grown honey. |

The ancient skill of scrimshaw, archery, and tomahawk tossing rounded out a full day. |
||
|
Campsites were mostly empty during the day, as Scouts visited the exhibits and watched the horse riding demonstrations in the arena. |
